Bletilla striata alba.

A lovely terrestrial orchid from China, Taiwan and Japan. In early Summer the underground pseudobulbs produce 20-30cm spikes of white flowers, developing a pink tinge as they age. Attractive lance like, mid-green ribbed leaves.

Plant in a moisture retentive well-drained soil in light shade in a sheltered site. Keep on the dry side in winter when dormant. May need winter protection in regions that get regular hard frosts. Also suitable for pot culture.

Tubers supplied are good sized divisions from cultivated stock with at least 2 flowering size tubers.
