Dactylorhiza kerryensis. Western Marsh Orchid. A fully hardy, winter dormant orchid producing a spike of magenta flowers with variable lighter markings. The leaves are lightly spotted. Distributed throughout Ireland and the South of Scotland. Grows well in cultivation. Flowers from early June. Nutrient poor, neutral to alkaline soil. Prefers full sun or partially shaded position. Grows approx 30-35cm high. Tubers on offer are all flowering size and freshly lifted. Supplied as a bare rooted tuber. Ex in-vitro seed raised. |
